John Vouras opened the Kozy Korner in 1922 on the corner of Delaware Avenue and Washington Street in Wilmington, Delaware. The restaurant was a downtown favorite during the city’s golden years. It was passed to his son Nicholas in 1964, who successfully ran the business until 1984 when the building was torn down to make way for a high rise hotel.
In 1992, Nick resurrected the Kozy Korner to its new location at 9th and Union to continue the family tradition with his son John, who took over in 2002. Today John proudly offers the quality, value and friendly service that his grandfather built the business around when the Kozy Korner first opened it doors over 80 years ago.
A local hot spot, Kozy Korner has won the 2000, 2003, 2005, 2009, 2016 and 2019 "Best Breakfast in Delaware" award during the "Best of Delaware" event, hosted by Delaware Today Media.
